Metal Dealer Dies, 79

A retired scrap metal merchant from one of Blackpool’s oldest families has died, aged 79. Mr Peter Hardman, of Ibbison Court, Blackpool, died at his home.

Mr Hardman left Revoe School at 14 and worked donkeys and landau carriages on the promenade before going into the scrap business in his 20’s. He retired from the business, which still trades in his names, when he was 65.

His wife, Nora, died aged 64 in 1984. He is survived by four sisters, Sophia, Betty, Marion and Shirley, and a brother, Reggie. Mr Hardman also has two son’s, Peter Junior, and Billy, four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

A funeral service at Christ Church with All Saints, Blackpool, will precede interment at Carleton Cemetery tomorrow.
